Awards

Big days for the little ones. Monkey got an award for most improvement. He had a rough start to the year. His teachers nominated him, and he got it. He was surprised, as he didn't know he was getting one. That was cute. There wasn't the bevvy of awards like elementary school, where you get awards for sneezing. So that meant more to him, that he earned it. His party is tomorrow, and then he's done!
Midget got a star student award and an integrity award. That cracked me up, because it was the one she chose to get awarded in front of all the parents today. As soon as the teacher said it, i thought she has no idea what that means. In the car later, she asked :) Future reference teachers : tell the kids what the awards mean!
We had adopted a soldier from anysoldier.com You pick the ones you like, and send some of their wishes to them. We of course, had to get a marine, that turned into boys and girls. So we are sending them some supplies. Hubby thought it would be nice, and it does feel nice to help out. It's good for the kids i think. There are the pics of monkey bracelet for his teacher, and the pie necklace for his math teacher. He thought it was funny, and she is quirky like that.
He also did the sweetest thing. This goes along with my picking of his name, as i thought it sounded like the first honest senator, or a succesful writer. He started a petition to get his substitute a job. The man is amazing, and he's taken over at the end of the year, with no trouble. He's patient, and kind. So he got the whole class to sign, and turned it into the principal. I am so proud of him for that. IT's thoughtful, and so much a go get em attitude!
